Vodafone has launched a new Formula 1 app for its customers with BlackBerry handsets and other high-end mobile phones.
The app has been released to coincide with the start of the new season, which gets underway with the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday (March 14th 2010).
Fans of the sport who download the Vodafone-sponsored app will be able to take advantage of a huge amount of data from the race, as well as the qualifying and practice sessions.
This will include lap times, straight-line speed figures, track status, weather and atmospheric conditions.
According to industry news and advice site CrackBerry, the Vodafone app is available as a free download, although to continue using it throughout the season consumers must subscribe to the service.
Vodafone will hope that the coming season proves competitive in order to drive downloads of the app.
This may well prove to be the case, thanks to the return of Michael Schumacher and the chance for Jenson Button to defend his drivers' championship title.
